What do you guys think of Participatory Economics? Basically, every year, people submit proposals of what they expect to consume over the year and how much work they want to do to get it. From this, the desirability of goods and work is calculated, and from them, their prices. Of course people are going to want to get more than they work, so this process has to be done over a few times until people work as much as they get. Also, when it comes to work, every worker has a vote in how things are managed depending on how much it affects them. Every worker has a "balanced job complex" made up of multiple jobs, so that no one does the same thing over and over every day, and everyone does a combination of work that's equally empowering.
This economic system solves a whole bunch of problems: there's no unemployment because anyone who wants a job can get one, and you don't have problems like a recession happening whenever people don't buy enough stuff. If there's less demand, it just means that people have to work less. Also, since payment is given to work effort, it makes it impossible for an elite class that doesn't work and forces others to be its slaves to form.
More on it here:

A whole book which goes into it in detail: http://books.zcommunications.org/ParEcon/lookingforward/toc.htm
What do you think? Keep in mind when comparing it to other economic systems that you have to remember that they have weaknesses and inefficiencies as well.

everyone gets a turn to be a doctor?

Depends if they've had medical training, lol. Compared to what we have now though, there would be more doctors, but they would work less hours as doctors. This is a good thing- working as a doctor can be stressful and stress reduces ability, so less stressed doctors means less mistakes and faster healing.
So yeah you'd have people that work at hospitals that would be doctors, but they would rotate the work of doctoring among themselves and also do janitorial work, secretary work, etc.

I actually like it. On a large scale level however, i believe that most will not like it. Mainly due to the point about the submitting as prediction of what they will consume. I mean people readily complain about taxes, and even that is mainly arithmetic. I also wonder who would be in charge of this system. Maybe they will be the elite class that does not receive any work. Realisticly, people consume the same things yearly, other than electronics. What will keep the orchestrators from using false number other than reviewing the submitted predictions? What this system in check?

I apologize if I'm asking questions that are explained thoroughly in the book, but it's late and I really don't feel like reading it.

>there's no unemployment because anyone who wants a job can get one
