This comes from my only experience with a pedophile, he was a guy I went to highschool with and hung out with every once in a while, ended up getting busted with ~15k cp pics in his place

I think a lot of guys who are bad at getting chicks (he was terrible), after a while, they give up. Then they look around at everyone else who gets girls and shit with super envy. They see 14 year olds going on dates and kissing, they see middle schoolers "going out" with each other and get really pissed and butthurt. They feel like if they could have done those things back then, they wouldn't have such a hard time now, so they start to get attracted to young chicks, as a sort of escapist mindfuck of some sort.

That could be part of it, though it doesn't explain why people who are molested are more likely to become molesters themselves.

Not personally a pedo, but more by moral choice than lack of attraction (and by technical definition since I like women of all sizes). Toddlers don't do anything for me, but after that I could enjoy it... but, like stealing or murder, I don't approve of doing it.

Is the same principal as a serial killer's psyche. When a man has low self confidence, esteem, etc. (e.g. the feeling that they aren't in control of their own lives and everyone is doing better than them), then they desire control, and turn it into a fetish. S&M is the same principal, except with pedophilia, not only do you get the feeling of control, but you feel it in all it's glory, because not only do you gain control, but you also take away someone's childhood, their innocence.

Chemicals are what give us attraction to men, women, animals and the like and pedos are no exception but as others above have said, some do it because they can't suppress their sadist desires.
