The first picture is what is really seen, but it turns out its just a negative, so its really easy to make it positive, which is what the second picture is.. At least thats what I read, I'm not an expert at this stuff.

There is another technology that lets you see an abstract of what the body should look like and thus estimate if there is a gun under your clothes, but it's not realy your body they are seeing and it's not as accurate as in the pictures they showed for article.
